Goodness...Spencer had a week full of excitement last week and celebrated his birthday many, many times.
He turned 5 years old on Monday. I know every mom says this...but I really can't believe it. I thought I literally had just about forever before he turned 5 and it's already passed.
Here's some tidbits about Spencer:
- He's VERY inquisitive about everything. The more questions, the better {for him...that is}
- He has definitely opened up this past year and learned a lot about himself, I think.
- He's learned how to read simple books and how to sound a word out if he doesn't know it.
- He loves to construct and build things.
- He says that his mommy is his favorite girl to cuddle at night before he goes to bed.
- He's the peace maker {most of the time}, just letting things go, and asking his brothers to do the same.
- He's tenderhearted and gets his feelings hurt easily {getting better at this one though and gaining a little bit tougher skin}
I just love him. Every day that goes by, I see how he's more like me than the other boys... which could be good in some ways, and bad in others :) He says that he and I have the same skin {b/c we're so fair skinned :)} But he adds so much more depth to my life {and the other boys too} than I could have ever imagined.
Monday, we went to the zoo with Ashley and her gang and had a great time. Then that night we headed to our usual San Jose's for some Mexican food to celebrate the actual birthday. Family came and it was great to spend some time together. Thanks to everyone who came and made Spencer feel special on his birthday!

Tuesday we headed to the park in Camden with some of his school friends and spent the afternoon there.
Wednesday we had lunch at McDonalds with a girl I went to high school with, and her 2 kids. Her son goes to the same preschool Spencer does.
Thursday was running around trying to get things ready for the birthday parties on Friday and Saturday.
Friday and Saturday we had the birthday parties, that included a treasure hunt, decorating pirate hats, and enjoying some cake and ice cream.

Sunday after church, Grandmother had baked yet another cake and we sang Happy Birthday, ONE MORE TIME, and Spencer blew the candles out. I guess she just wanted to make it a full 7 days that we celebrated his birthday. CRAZY!! I guess he better just engrave this week in his mind because it probably won't happen this way again :)
I've got one more week of lots of stuff going on and then hopefully things will slow down {just a little} so I can catch my breath.

Thanks for inviting us! The boys had a great time! We need to get them together again~soon.
What a fabulous week he had! And I can relate about the birthday thing - I think Olivia got to celebrate her 8th birthday for a month, just to make up for my having her brother the day before her birthday. I can't believe he's FIVE...
WOW what a nice birthday! Can I be five again?
