king's glen academy

So our first day of school was yesterday and the boys {and I} are enjoying homeschooling. Yeah...I know it's only been the first couple of days and I've got 178 days more to go, but the boys seem to be loving learning. They ask what are we going to do next just about all day... I'm not sure how long that enthusiasm will last and I'm sure there will be days when I want to pull my hair out, but I'm taking it all in while I can. I came home today after picking Carson from his first day of preschool and the kids got out of the car, went and observed the tomato plants, then went and tried to catch every small insect or animal they could find, and I just had gratitude that I was able to see all of this. I'm glad that I get to see Andrew learning to read well and Spencer reading words that I had no idea he knew how to read. Carson thinks he's just as big as the other boys are and is doing relatively well doing "schoolwork". He has his moments for sure and it's hard trying to keep him entertained all the time, but I'm sure that we will manage...we have to ☺

The name of our school {King's Glen Academy} came from the school that Shaun went to when he was a kid in Scotland. He always brags to the boys that he started first grade when he was 4 {only because they didn't have kindergarten}. I couldn't think of anything creative and I had to have a name for the homeschool association and that's the only name we kept going back to...so King's Glen Academy it is. Spencer wanted to name it "Wood School"...I guess he gets his creativity from his mama ☺

Here's some pictures from the first day of school...

We met a friend yesterday afternoon at ChickFilA because they had Superheroes and Princesses night for family night last night and that was their treat for their first day of school. Here's to a great {hopefully} school year!

You are a brave woman! I'm not sure I have the patience to do homeschooling.

I like your name Ginger, and I love the pictures of the boys with their signs. Wish I'd done that:-).

I had to tell the lady from the museum our name the other day and I know I was blushing when I told her.
