Yesterday we stayed around the house all day. We went out a couple of times for the boys to play and to check the mail but that was about it. Both Andrew and Spencer took a good 3 hour nap yesterday which I was grateful for. I had a hectic morning trying to get a couple of things straightened out for Relief Society. Part of my responsibility as the RS President is to do food orders for those who need them. I have to do them by Sunday and either give them to a couple in our ward on Sunday night or fax them over before lunch time on Monday. On our way to the zoo on Monday I stopped by my mom's office to fax the 3 orders over to the Bishop's Storehouse. I faxed them, waited, and got a confirmation that said the fax went through. I didn't call the storehouse to make sure they got there like I usually do because the paper said they had went through. So off we go and I didn't think anything else about it until I got a phone call about 8:30 yesterday morning from a lady that said that the storehouse didn't have her food order. I panicked because if they didn't have hers then they didn't have the other 2 I had faxed over. I called the storehouse and they said they didn't have any orders from our ward. They said their workers were about to leave to go home...how long would it take me to get there. Well anyone that has kids knows how long it takes to get out the door...and I am no different. Plus it takes 30 minutes for me to get to the storehouse. I told them if at least one person could wait, I would hurry and get there within 45 minutes and I would help them fill the orders. I was sure my grandmother could watch the boys for me. I waited for a couple of minutes while they talked and then they finally decided that they could just do the orders over the phone. I was so grateful for that. So we got that all taken care of and noone had to go hungry. Next time I will do like I usually do and make sure they have the food orders in their hand before I leave. Life is full of little lessons. It's too bad most of the time you have to make mistakes before you learn them.
Jenny came over around 10:30 or so and I highlighted her hair. I pulled it through the cap and the boys were little angels playing with each other in the playroom. Time I poured the mixture to put on her hair Andrew started to cry. I really couldn't do anything because I had put the solution in the container and it was on my hands. He cried for about 20 minutes while I finished her hair...to the point that he made himself sick. I felt sorry for the little fella. While her hair was processing, I fed him good and he went right to sleep. I think Jenny's hair turned out great. It scared me right at first though because her hair started breaking off in the front and I was afraid we had left the solution on there too long. But she comforted me by saying her hair usually did that after she got it highlighted. Phew...
Anyways...about the runaway car...while we were going to check the mail, Spencer was pushing Andrew in his little car that he loves to ride in. Spencer wouldn't let me put my hands on it to push him...he wanted to do it. So Spencer pushed him up the driveway. We left Andrew in the grass in his car far from the road while I carried Spencer to the mailbox so he could check the mail. We got the mail and went back to get Andrew. We picked Andrew up, put the mail inside the "hood" of the car and started back down the driveway. Spencer wanted me to push while he carried the WalMart sales paper. A little ways down the driveway, I noticed that Spencer's shoes were untied. I bent down to tie his shoes and when I did, Andrew started flying down the driveway in his car, the hood lifted up and the mail started flying everywhere because it was windy outside. I had to think quick and stop the car before Andrew flew right out of it. Luckily he didn't get too far. After we got Andrew taken care of, Spencer looked at the mail all over the yard and said "Oh NO...Oh no!" He is so funny about things when they get out of place or when they do something they're not supposed to. We got the mail all picked up and went back to the house. fun...fun.... :)
After our adventure outside, we came in and I started dinner. Shaun probably thought the missionaries or some other guest was coming over for dinner because I actually cooked a whole meal. Some days it's just too much to have dinner ready for him when he gets home. But he's a good husband and understands that. I'm trying...
Well the boys are taking their nap early today...probably because they were both up at 6 when Shaun left for work. So that's why I'm able to sit at the computer and type this "book". I really like writing on this blog because it helps me to keep track of all our little adventures. Some days are boring and some not so boring...but it's good to write it all out. I'm slow at writing in my journal...and my typing is a whole lot faster. So once again Ashley...thanks for inspiring me to start one of these. Hope everyone's having a great day!
