jesus wants me for a sunbeam

...and Spencer. Spencer moved up from the nursery to his new class as a Sunbeam (the 3 year olds) in the Primary today at church. We've been trying to talk it up all week...how great it's going to be that he's going to be an even bigger boy now...and all Spencer would say is that he needs to wait a little longer until he gets just a little bit bigger....or he needs to be 4 before he can be bigger :) It was an adjustment for him today and at one point I wasn't even too sure he was going to make it without not crying...and almost made me cry in the process. The primary president was awesome. His teacher is absolutely wonderful...she's been teaching this age for forever...so I have no doubts that he won't be taken care of. The primary president, Missy, had made bags for all of the new sunbeams and a little sunshine that said sunbeam on it that they could wear as a necklace...so they would feel special. When it got time for Spencer to go up there, he cried and didn't want to go up there. Shaun finally got him to go up there, and then he hid his face in Shaun's shoulder (the picture of Shaun's back) when she tried to put the necklace on him. She just handed everything to Shaun and we tried to get Spencer to sit back on his chair, but all he would do was cling on to Shaun. So I took over and held him for a minute then sat him down beside me. His teacher came over and sat down beside him and tried to get him to go sit in his chair, but he wouldn't have it. Finally, I just had to get up and leave because I had to conduct and teach Relief Society, so his teacher carried him over to her seat and held him on her lap. All the while Spencer was crying and continued to do so for at least 10 minutes. I could hear him in the hallway. But then I walked by and I didn't hear him...so that was a good sign. At the end of church, his teacher said that he finally calmed down and participated in the rest of primary...and he participated in his class after primary...YEAH for Spencer!! My biggest baby is growing up!! It just hit me that there are about to be a lot of changes going to take place in the next little bit. Spencer will be 4 in February, and that means talking about what we are going to do as far as school goes...I thought I had forever when he was first born...now forever is just about here :)
