Today we went and delivered the items that some of the women of the Relief Society in our Ward made (blankets, bags, hats and scarves) to 3 different organizations (Sister Care, Ascension House hospice care, and the Children's Cancer Center at Richland hospital) who expressed needs from volunteers. The women of the Relief Societyhave been working on this service project for quite some time now and we were able to take over 250 items to those in need. Spencer and Andrew have been such great helpers when we sorted, counted and bagged the items, so I felt it necessary that they go and help deliver the bags as well. They were really excited for the most part and I'm glad that they got to be an active participant in helping those who have had different trials in their lives, feel a little bit special once they receive one of our handmade items. I am so grateful to be a member of a church who reaches out to those in need many times over.
After we went and delivered the items, we headed out to ChickFilA and Sister Polly (the lady in the picture with Spencer and Andrew) treated us to lunch and ice cream. Thanks so much!!! She definitely deserves a gold medal for all the service projects she has coordinated, even through her not so great health. I think I've learned from her, the greatest feeling of satisfaction that comes through helping someone less fortunate than you. It was such a fun day!

What a fun thing for your little boys to participate in. It's a great way to teach them.
