fire chief andrew...

Andrew turned 4 a week ago today...four... I wish sometimes, time would just slow down a little! Saturday was his party and we had a big surprise for him... our local fire department gladly brought a fire truck to our home and let the kids "tour" it. I had called to see what they did for parties...take a tour of the station, or what...and I was surprised at the answer that they could come to our house. I didn't tell Andrew just in case of rain or if they had a call to answer to, so I think he was pleasantly surprised.

Andrew's shirt says Fire Chief, and he let everyone know that he was the fire chief for the day :) I told him that I had gotten a special shirt for his birthday and when I pulled it out and read what it said, his face read pure joy and he wanted to put it on immediately. Then at the end of the day, he asked if he could "wear this shirt everyday, because I really like it". So if everytime anyone sees us and Andrew has his fire chief shirt on and the yellow fire hat and the scooby doo garden gloves, you'll know why :) That sure was the best $7 Target find yet though ...
When Andrew got his fire chief shirt on, he immediately went and got the hat, goggles, gloves, and also a hammer and other play tools. When I asked him why he got his tools, he replied that if he needed to break out a window in a fire, he would have his hammer. His hair was wet with sweat from wearing that plastic fire hat ALL DAY LONG! He's STILL wearing that thing all day long...

Here's some tidbits about Andrew that you might or might not already know:

* He has a real southern accent...

* He can throw out some great facial expressions.

* He loves our dog Jack, and will very often say, "Come here little buddy", or "Jack really loves me", or "Jack sure missed me while we took Spencer to school".

* He is very possessive of his toys.

* He and Carson are constantly at each other, but easy to say I'm sorry and give a hug.

* He is very attached to Shaun...sometimes I think Shaun has brainwashed him into loving him more :)

* He wants to be cuddled every night before he goes to bed, and if for one reason or another, we don't, he will stand at the top of the stairs and yell out as loud as he can and as many times as he needs to..."Come cuddle me"... until we come up and cuddle him.

* He's a super shy little boy when he gets around lots of people...but people he knows, it ONLY takes him only about 30 - 45 minutes to warm up to them :)

* He's very strong willed and HE has to make up his mind that he wants to do something.

* He had a rough first 2 years of his life...had fluid in his lungs at birth and had to have an IV in his head...we didn't get to hold him for a whole day...almost had to have knee surgery right after his first birthday...ear infection after ear infection - almost had to have tubes put in his ears... but he's a healthy little boy now!

* He is all boy, but he's the first one to pick me flowers or tell me that he's going to get me a pink mustang with purple polka dots... I love pink and polka dots so why not :)

Andrew is a sweet sweet boy... he's just a typical middle child at times, and that's something I'm trying to work on... I love my boy...but if you ask him...he only loves his daddy (see the brainwashing thing going on...lol).

I think Andrew had a great birthday and he had some great friends to celebrate it with!!! Here's a few pictures from the occasion... Happy Birthday Andrew!!!

I'm amazed about the fire truck! That's the awesome part of "small town" living, I guess... and such cute things to read about Andrew. It helps me see what an adorable little boy you have there!
