Yesterday, we took a field trip up to Pelzer, SC and went to the Happy Cow Creamery. The story was amazing how it all came to be and very interesting in how they feed the cows without any use of chemicals or fertilizers, yet the cows produce way more milk than other cows who use them.
First we heard a story of how Farmer Tom went from being a grocer to a farmer…
Then, we took a tractor ride through Farmer Tom’s property, while he told the story of how his creamery came to be and what makes his cows the happiest cows.
What you don’t see in these pictures is that it was FREEZING and the wind was constantly making it colder! What you don’t hear, is the constant chatter of teeth from Andrew, and Spencer whining and complaining the WHOLE time because he was cold. They finally did get over it, and next time Spencer said he would listen to me when I told him he might want to put on a long sleeve shirt ☺
But at the end of the day, hearing Spencer say at the dinner table that he had such a fun day meant that he didn’t remember how cold he was, he just remembered the experience he had in learning something new.
We got to see the machines they use to milk the cows…
We got to see where they bottle their own milk and learned that they use real chocolate for their chocolate milk… No pictures, but their bottling goes on inside the silo behind their little store {the blue building}
The best part was tasting the chocolate milk…and we just had to come home with some. Thank goodness I brought a cooler! We also just HAD to come home with a pint of cookies and cream ice cream that was DIVINE!!
Love the cow trying to find something in his nose ☺
And Andrew kept looking back to make sure the cow wasn’t going to come through the fence at him…LOL!
Are we at Riverbanks Zoo or the Creamery? This contraption never gets old!

After all was said and done, it was a fun time. It's always nice to get out, be with friends and see new places--especially lately:-).
Yes, it was cold!!
I have another trip in the works for May to City Roots, I'll email you about it.
Looks like a great trip! I'll have to add them...and the creative blocks...to my list! Thanks! :)
