Well...After Andrew's doctor's appointment on Tuesday, I wasn't feeling too well but I just tried to shake it off. There was too much to get done to get sick. Yet my body felt really weak and achy. On Wednesday I couldn't even hardly get out of bed - I don't think I'd ever felt that bad - even through two pregnancies. So luckily my grandmother was a lifesaver and came and got the boys. They stayed with her the whole day. I was hoping I would feel better at lunchtime so I could relieve her, but it didn't work out that way. Finally around 6 or so I felt good enough to get out of the house to go get the boys, so I did. My grandmother's the greatest. She had dinner cooked for me and everything. Shaun was good about taking care of them when we got home so I could get to bed at a rather decent hour. As the weekend approached, I felt better every day. It must have been a quick version of the flu or something.
Anyways...we took Andrew to the doctor to see if he was feeling better last Friday and she said it was a good thing that we came to see her before the weekend because his ears were definitely worse. She put him on the same medication, Omnicef, that he had taken before and said if this didn't work, we would have to talk about putting tubes in his ears. That's kinda scary...but if it will stop him from having ear infections, I'm all for it. He's almost done taking the medication and he seems like he's a happier baby. I told Shaun maybe after all these ear infections clear up, Andrew will be the perfect little angel we always knew he could be...He's just a lot different than Spencer was...to say the least.
Today has been an eventful day. I had a couple of things to do for Relief Society this morning and then a baby shower for one of my relatives, and then a funeral to attend for a sister in our ward. Shaun had to go to our downtown house to do some yardwork to get it ready to sell, so the boys spent all day with me. FUN!! After the funeral we went by my grandparents' house and they had gotten a new golf cart. Spencer was elated. He jumped out of the car and went to the golf cart and acted like he was driving. He noticed the key wasn't in there so he pointed his pointer finger at me and said "Right back...key" He went around the house to the front porch, up the stairs and started ringing the doorbell and knocking on the door hoping someone would come. My grandparents weren't there yet, so obviously noone came. But he was relentlessly trying. They finally drove up and he runs out there to them and gets the house key and hands it to me. We go inside and he heads straight to the back bedroom where they keep their keys in a tin can and gets the golf cart key on the first try. He had a blast riding on the golf cart. We went and saw the neighbor's baby cow and on our way back, we got chased by 4 of the other neighbors dogs. My mom was on the back and she really got scared. I was scared for her. It took me back to the days in Chile where the dogs would always chase us on our bikes, and we would ride as fast as we could to try and get away from them. One time I wasn't so lucky and got bit. Anyways...that was a side note. We had a great time though! Spencer didn't have a nap until almost 5. He fell asleep in the car and usually when I try to get him out, he wakes up immediately. Today though he was out. I put him on the couch and he didn't even wake up once. About an hour later I watched as he rolled off the couch and managed to still stay asleep on the flour. Too funny.
Andrew started to crawl this past week. That's our other big news. I didn't think he would ever start. But now that he's learned he can get around...boy does he ever. Well...as my blog says...life is good. I can't complain too much....especially about the great weather we've been having. I'll share one more quick experience and then I'm done. On Thursday, the boys and I got out to deposit Shaun's check about 4 or so, and it was such a nice day that I thought...I'll just go to the playground at the park in Camden so Spencer can get out for a little bit and play. Andrew enjoys the swings too so I thought it would be fun. Well we get there and park, and Spencer gets one glimpse of all the other kids on the play set and will not get out of the car. I tried to take his juice cup from him so I could unbuckle him and he kept on saying no. I tried just unbuckling his seat belt and he put his hands down there and wouldn't let me....all the while saying no. I tried to coax him out of the car and then finally I just gave up. I rode down to the Amtrak station to see if we could see any trains, since he's obsessed with them, and there weren't any going by. But out of the corner of my eye, I saw another play area at the recreation department with a couple of swings and slides so I thought I'd give it another try. I drove over to it...and to my surprise, Spencer got out without any coercion...probably because there were no other kids there. But he did get out and had a great time. Andrew enjoyed going down the slide and swinging, and Spencer just liked climbing up and down. Spencer is so shy...it takes him a while to get used to other kids...and people in general. But we're trying to work on it day by day. I guess that's it for today...hope everyone's doing well.
