the death of oreo...

We did end up going to the zoo on Thursday and had a good time. We drove up to the zoo about 3 or so and I saw at least 7 tour buses at the front and I was hoping that they were leaving. They were thank goodness. There were still a lot of people there but not too unmanageable. The boys had a good time. I was trying to take pictures of places we hadn't really taken pictures of before and the one place we hadn't was at the flamingos. So here's Andrew enjoying the view :) It was a little warmer than I thought it was going to be, so we splurged and got some dippin dots ice cream. I can't believe I paid over 5 bucks for a little cup of ice cream...but it was worth it and the boys definitely enjoyed it.

On Friday Shaun had to work until 11 or so and he came on home afterwards and we were going to get a few things done around the house. That morning I had taken the boys outside to play and to let Oreo out. He had had diarrhea the past couple of days and I wasn't sure if he caught what we had (don't know if that's possible) or was just sick from something else. He was a little sluggish at first, Spencer chased him around a bit and then it looked like he had gained a little more energy because he was hopping around like normal. Then he went underneath the wagon to rest for a little bit. I thought we would go inside because by this time Shaun had gotten home and I was thinking Oreo needed a rest from Spencer. We went inside and I went back outside about 15 minutes later just to check and make sure that the bunny hadn't disappeared and when I went to check on him, I noticed that he wasn't really moving and when I went to go pick him up, the poor little bunny was limp. I almost shed a couple of tears because I knew how much fun Spencer and Andrew had playing with him the past couple of weeks and I didn't know quite how to tell Spencer that Oreo had died. I just flat out told him that Oreo had died and he looked at me with a sweet face and said "Oreo die" It just about broke my heart. I know that sounds silly...but lately that's been me...a little emotional. Anyways...Shaun and Spencer went down to the edge of the woods and dug a little hole and then came and got Oreo to put him in it. We put the little orange wood chew toys we had bought him the day before as a headstone. We're insane I know...it's just a bunny :) I asked Shaun if we were going to get another pet...and he said how about chickens...what a great pet...I don't think so!!

Anyways...on Friday night we went to eat with Brandon and Jenny at Longhorn Steakhouse. I'd never been there before...and it was super! Before we met them for dinner we had a little bit of time, so we went to the mall for a few minutes. We went into Old Navy...bad idea...j/k. I had looked for Spencer some flip-flops but most of the places I went to only had sizes that were a little too big for him. I just glanced over at the flip-flops in Old Navy and the smallest ones they had were the just the right size for him. I showed them to him and asked him if he wanted them and he got the biggest grin on his face. He LOVES them. He wears them all over the house. He's gotten used to wearing mine all the time, so now he has his own pair that are just the right fit!

On Saturday I had a leadership training meeting in the morning, and I got home around lunchtime. We went to do our weekly grocery shopping and then we came home. Soon after, Ashley's mom, Junko, called to see if she and Emery could come over for a little bit so they could give Andrew his birthday present. It was fun to see Emery again and for Spencer and Andrew to have a little girl to play with. Andrew was a little grumpy at first from lack of sleep and wouldn't hardly even look at anyone without crying...but by the end of the visit he was a little better. Here's a picture of Spencer and Emery enjoying one of their favorite things...reading (looking at) books. We enjoyed her coming over for a little bit!

Well...that's about our weekend. Today was a normal Sunday...ate lunch with Grandmother...took a nap...today was the first time in a while that all 4 of us took a nap at the same time - how nice...and then we went back up to Grandmother's to eat dinner because she had so many leftovers. You definitely can't turn down good food! And now it's off to bed. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Here's a couple pictures of the boys with their Easter outfits on. They wore them today since they didn't get to enjoy them last weekend...and believe me...Andrew really looks like he's enjoying wearing that tie, huh :)
