Actually it was a weekend at the beach because we went to see Shaun's family on Saturday and came back yesterday. We had a great time...we usually do!
This was Andrew's first time at the ocean and you could really tell. He wasn't that into it. Shaun had to hold him most of the time. I've said it before...but he is such a DADDY'S BOY! Almost the whole weekend he wanted Shaun to hold him...it was kind of good for me because my lower back has been killing me lately...almost to the point of not being able to walk. But I think Andrew is cutting more teeth as well so he was a little more grouchy than usual. Spencer was scared at first of the waves and the tide
trying to pull him in, but once he splashed around in it (holding my hand of course) he had a blast! I didn't get too many pics because my hands and everything else were covered in sand and I didn't want to get sand all over the camera. We did have a wonderful time at the ocean though. It makes me miss going to the beach as much as we used to when I was younger. We'll just have to make more trips :) Check out those farmer tans...Spencer,Andrew and Shaun (if he took his shirt off) would look like twins.
Mike and Greta (Shaun's parents) got two miniature horses this weekend as well and they are absolutely adorable!
One is a "mama" (the dark brown one) and the light brown one is the baby.
They have a little biting problem, so our sister in law, Angie, who is great with animals, handled the horses most of the weekend so Spencer could get close to them. They fed the baby one and Spencer probably drove Angie crazy going back and forth to the food tub and bringing her food to give the horse. He only made about 20 trips before we had to tell him the horse was probably a little full from all that food.
He put up a little fight when we tried to get him out of the fence, but such is life. Here's Spencer with one of his favorite aunts...Ainsley. She's so awesome just letting Spencer and Andrew dictate where she goes and what she does. And believe me, they sure do take advantage of her being so nice :)
Last Friday, I was woken up in the morning by the sound of a little voice saying..."wanna get down". I thought "why in the world is Spencer saying that when he's in his bed...and he can certainly get down from there." I closed my eyes for a few minutes and then I heard him again..."wanna get down". I got up this time and looked in his bed and he wasn't there. I panicked a little but then he started saying the same thing again and I looked over at the changing table and he had crawled up on top and had gotten a wipe to wipe his nose with and he couldn't get down. I laughed so hard, thinking of how long he could have been up there without me even knowing. He's such a mess!!
On Friday as well...Mom had taken the day off and so we dinked around together. We went to a couple of consignment shops and found some great deals. One deal was a high chair that was almost brand new. I haven't bought a "real" highchair with either one of the boys because I didn't think we would have any room in this house. But this one was so nice and a good price so we got it...and I'm glad we did. Andrew loves to sit in it and eat his Cheerios and snacks and drink his juice and just be content for a little bit while I wash the dishes or do whatever else I need to. I guess you could say it was a good investment. The smaller high chair that we've always used and set on the coffee table, has worked, but Andrew would never just sit in it, just because.
On Friday afternoon, after our outings, Mom brought out a little pool that she had bought for the boys and so we decided to try it out. While Andrew took a nap, Spencer and I went outside to see if he would enjoy it. And boy did he ever! Like most things, it took him a little bit to warm up to it, but after a few minutes he was sliding down the slide into the
pool like a pro. Thanks Shannon for the idea...I saw Wyatt and Eli trying it out on your blog and thought we might give it a go. When Shaun got home, Spencer was sooo excited to show his daddy what he could do! fun, fun, fun!
Well...not quite sure what we'll do for the 4th tonight. Shaun had yesterday instead of today off so he's at work all day...but we'll just see. Hope you all have a great 4th of July! Happy Independence Day!
