t-ball

Spencer had his first T-ball practice this past Saturday. He was so excited to start playing. We had gotten his cleats last Friday and he didn't want to take them off. He wore them around the house until we made him take them off. His attitude changed several times, though, the day of the practice. We pulled up to the ball field and the first thing he said once he saw all the other kids on the fields, was "I think I really wanted to play soccer." ... in other words, all these kids scare me. :) I thought he would be hard to get to go out on the field, but he did it with no coaxing from me....yeah...that's a breakthrough... Then he did what the coaches told him to do. He's definitely not a "natural", but we'll have to keep practicing with him :) Next time we'll have him wear a baseball hat, because he can't stand to have the sun in his eyes...anytime. He tried to rub the sun out of his eyes for at least the first few minutes.

The kids rotated around 3 stations and then at the end, the coach had them run the bases. After most of the kids were making their rounds, one of the coaches started running the bases too, to get the kids to go a little faster. All Spencer talked about in the car was how fast he could run because he beat the coach :) Thanks to the coach who built my boy's self confidence that day on how fast he could run :)

Hopefully we'll have a fun first T-ball season.
